The Community Center Projects
Esperanza de Joaquin projects, now under the auspices of St. Anthony’s Alliance include:
1. The Scholarship program: In 2010 provided funding for 27 children to attend middle/high school. The demand for this project is growing locally and it is starting to have an effect on attendance rates particularly by boys.
2. Transport & Medicine program: provides transport for those in need of healthcare services (before St. Anthony’s merged with EDJ, we provided the funding for this program).
3. The Library program: an after school program for children to read books and do arts & crafts.
4. The soy kitchen: every morning, atole, made with soy products, is provided for children before school. The nutrition of children in the village has improved immensely with this program.
